CHARTER plc Tax settlement

The Board of Charter plc announces that settlement has been reached with the Inland Revenue in respect of certain outstanding tax matters. As a result, a tax credit of some £6 million arising from the release of a provision no longer required will be reflected in exceptional items in the group’s accounts for the year ending 31 December 2004.
