Charter plc Trading Update

The Board of Charter plc is issuing the following trading update.
At the Annual General Meeting on 25 June 2004, the Company reported that positive trends in its core businesses and their key markets had continued and both were experiencing generally stronger trading conditions. In the light of trading to date, the Board views the outcome of 2004 with increased confidence and expects that the overall performance of the Group for the year as a whole will be ahead of the Board’s previous expectations.
The Company is due to release its interim results on 10 September 2004.
