Charter plc - Appointment of new Executive Director and Company Secretary

Charter plc is pleased to announce that Mr James Deeley has been appointed to the Board of the Company as Legal Director and Company Secretary with effect from 10 July 2006.
Mr Deeley, 42, is a qualified solicitor with wide experience in public company legal matters. He began his career with Slaughter and May before moving to Charter plc as Group Legal Adviser and subsequently held positions as Director of Legal Services at Regus plc, Head of Group Legal at DS Smith plc and was Corporate Services Director and Company Secretary of Numerica Group plc.
Mr Deeley does not currently serve as a director of any other public company and there are no further matters to be disclosed pursuant to paragraph 9.6.13 of the UK Listing Rules.
On 10 July 2006, Mr Robert Careless, Finance Director, will relinquish the role of Company Secretary he assumed on the resignation of Ms Alison Yapp on 27 January 2006.
